ESSENE COVENANT GROUP BEING FORMED

I founded this church in 1991. In all the years since, I have never sent out a fundraising letter or requested that our friends and members tithe to support the church. I did start a land fund, but none of that money can be used for the general support of the church. Thus, our current situation is that we are unable to print our literature, publish our books, or launch any of our important projects, due to lack of financial support. We currently have about 1,000 people involved with our church. Of those, only about five send any sort of regular, monthly donation to support our work.

The lack of financial support is not due to lack of interest in our work. I constantly receive phone calls and letters from enthusiastic people praising the work of our church. Many of them describe their affiliation with our church as the best thing that has ever happened to them. Many say they were cured of lifelong illnesses by converting to the dietary and lifestyle practices taught by our church. All of them are thrilled that our church is spreading the vegetarian teachings of the Essene Jesus all over the planet. But very few have ever sent any donation to support our work, only five out of a thousand send a regular donation each month.

Why is this so? Other churches receive financial support, why don't we? I BELIEVE THE ANSWER IS SIMPLE: I never asked! In all these years, I never asked for financial support... and so I did not receive it. Jesus said, "Ask and ye shall receive." Well, now I'm asking. The reason I have not previously asked is that I am not motivated by money. But I am motivated by the need to spread the Essene teachings of the vegetarian Jesus all over the planet. I am motivated by the cries of the cattle being butchered. I am motivated by love. Are you?

The word "covenant" means "sacred agreement' One joins our covenant group by agreeing to make a monthly or quarterly donation to our church. The amount of the donation is up to you. You simply commit to sending a donation on a monthly or quarterly basis, but you need not commit to any specific amount. As a general guideline, we suggest you send each month an amount somewhat between 1% and 10% of your monthly income. That suggestion is based on the following words of Jesus, from our Essene New Testament: A disciple asked Jesus a question, saying, "Master, very few rich people will enter into the True Life and join us... How, then, shall we carry on; the work of God in the regeneration of mankind?" And Jesus said: "... let each bring an offering of a tithe, or the tithe of a tithe of their increase, as God doth prosper them, and put it in the treasury, for the maintenance of the church and the ministry, and the works thereof. For I say unto you, it is more blessed to give than to receive."
